One approach would be for organizations that store this type of data to follow industry cybersecurity standards when handling it. As part of an AI system's training data is potentially sensitive, it must remain non-sensitive; various strategies exist such as anonymizing training data or differential privacy methods to achieve this objective. These should outline not only what can and cannot be done with data but also its mapping across an ecosystem and how security can be ensured from end to end.

Responsible Development

Technological advances throughout history have drastically transformed opportunities for meaningful human labor by altering what work is possible, what skills are necessary to perform tasks, and whether workers feel alienated or connected with the production process. Some accounts of AI suggest it could expand higher-order tasks while pessimists fear it could reduce or eliminate existing opportunities for meaningful human labor altogether.

AI can support worker autonomy if it takes on more engaging or skilled work than its predecessor, or gives employees some level of control over how the technology operates. On the other hand, other forms of AI may erode worker autonomy through surveillance and monitoring systems, for instance when used to track call center operators' activities (Asher-Schapiro 2021). To promote responsible development of AI, systems must be monitored by humans who can monitor their actions and intervene if necessary. Errors will be minimized while also assuring that the system delivers on its promises. Furthermore, accountability mechanisms in the form of audits and reviews should be established to prevent bad actors from misusing technology for personal gain. Additionally, it's essential to maintain an impartial third-party watchdog that can oversee both the development and use of AI tools. Establishing such bodies would provide much-needed oversight of both development and usage. These individuals will then be better able to consider the wider ramifications and potential misuse of AI technologies; including any negative consequences they could have for society as a whole.
